I was dead set on playing division one football.

I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska not exactly a hotbed for college football recruiting.

Matter of fact about the only reason a college football coach would come to Alaska was to recruit salmon for their plate and possibly catch a football game while there.

I was no physical specimen weighing 165 pounds on a 5’9” frame as a senior.

Furthermore, the third game into my senior season I suffered a possible season-ending injury forcing me to wear a boot and prowl the sidelines the rest of the regular season.

It’s difficult to get recruited when you don’t play the majority of your senior year let alone live in Alaska and have little to no talent.

My coaches were instrumental in strategizing the best time to bring me back to help the team win without jeopardizing my future playing ability.

A little background is necessary to understand how difficult removing me from the rotation was.

I was the kicker, the leading rusher, the starting corner, the kick returner, and team captain.

I never left the field.

Tomorrow, I will continue with how I went from injury reserve to playing for a top ten college football powerhouse and how you can use the same principles to get whatever you want out of life.
