Comedian Rodney Dangerfield (RIP) is famous for the quote…

“I get no respect.”

If optimal health were a person I think they would feel the same way.

We often do not notice things until we don’t have them and many times by the time we notice that they’re gone we have become accustomed to the new way.

Health is a prime example of this.

If you’ve never experienced optimal health you Rodney Dangerfield it and give it no respect (or at least not the respect it deserves) simply because you don’t know how good you can feel.

If you have experienced it, but it has been a long time past then you have become accustomed to your current level of inferior health and again don’t give optimal health the respect it deserves.

If you’re currently in optimal health then you have become accustomed to that and only when you let it slip do you notice the change.

Until you achieve optimal health you have to work relentlessly to convince yourself that the pain, struggle, and sacrifices are worth it.  This is called faith and giving it the respect it deserves.

If you’re currently experiencing optimal health you have to work to stay out of complacency.  This is called discipline and continuing to give it the respect it deserves.

In the long run, we need faith, discipline, and respect to accomplish our goals.

Faith in something that is not a current reality.

Discipline to do what is necessary to prove your faith well founded.

Respect for the thing you are going after to the point of reverence.
