I am Brett Denton, Founder of Kvell.
My passion and the passion of the entire Kvell team is to provide you the best fitness experience and community in the world and to empower you to be a better you than you have ever imagined being.
How did I come to such a ‘grandiose’ mission?
This is not one of those warm and fuzzy stories where I have dreamt about it ever since I was a wee-man and finally, it materialized.
No, as a matter of fact, its genesis comes directly from the death of my childhood dream.
My dream was to play on Sundays with millions watching as a professional football player in the National Football League.
I grew up pushing myself to the max physically and mentally to ensure what I lacked in skill I made up for in sheer grit…Until I didn’t.
At some point along the way, I got too good for my own good. I eased off the gas pedal a little too much. I became complacent. I started reading and buying into my headlines. I started complaining and making up reasons why I wasn’t starting running back or performing as well as I should have been. I did everything except the one thing that would have had the greatest impact. That one thing was to look squarely in the mirror. Because I was not willing or was scared to….
I failed. Not once…many times.
- I lost in the semi-finals of the Alaska wrestling state championships to an opponent I had never lost to in nine previous matches and was a favorite to win gold.
Once wasn’t enough, so I failed again.
- I was an eternal backup running back for Boise State University (Although I did start in one game and ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns) Many people may not see this as a failure, but you have to understand this was my entire life at the time.
Then, finally…I failed one more time. (I’m a slow learner)
- I had a great job, but it was running me ragged, I had no time to take care of myself physically, and I didn’t particularly like it no matter how “good” of a job it was. Oh, and I had over $100,000 of debt to my name. Class act!
Screw it, JUST DO IT!
I finally looked into the mirror.
The cold hard truth was staring back at me with bitter disdain and a gauntness that I had never witnessed before.
I didn’t recognize the person staring back at me.
I was in my twenties and looked like I was going on fifty. I looked sick, frail, and unhealthy.
My life had overrun me. I was an empty shell of a person going through the motions.
I decided it was time to take control. The one constant in my life until recently had always been sport, fitness, and health.
Health and Fitness…the Ultimate Gamechanger
I started working out again.
I made time to work out when I previously made excuses to not work out.
I made eating healthy nutritious foods a necessity instead of “nice to do when I can fit it in.”
As I regained my fitness and health, I regained my life and sense of self.
I regained the young kid who made up with grit for what he lacked in skill.
I started running fitness boot camps out of a 150 square foot room in a pharmacy to empower other people to transform not just their body but their entire life with optimal fitness. The name of these, Fab-to-Flab Bootcamps is cringe-worthy now, but it got the job done.
I started with a handful of clients who were training for free. That’s right; I didn’t charge them anything (great for business, horrible for my bank account.)
As I saw the power of optimizing physical and mental capacity through proper training with both myself and others, my passion for empowering the world with this tool grew.
The program continued to grow as we changed names (six times in total) and locations year after year until it became my mission to empower as many people in the world as possible by providing the optimal fitness experience.
Short tangent: We changed names six times because it took that many times to find the perfect fit for our mission.
We have a long way to go to make this mission reality, but we are relentlessly working towards it every day. I invite you to take part in empowering yourself through the fitness and lifestyle experience that we meticulously curate for the specific outcome of empowerment.
It Is YOUR Time to KVELL!
The word Kvell means to be happy and proud especially in community. This is what you can expect to experience and gain when you participate in our programs. You will be joining a community of like-minded people. People, who just like you and me, lead busy lives, have endless obligations, and who desire to be in control of their life.
Jim Rohn, world-renowned motivational speaker and once Idaho native said, “We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.” If you want to be happy, proud, and fit, spend a little more time with the Kvell Crew.
On top of a community of powerful people that affectionately are referred to as the Kvell Crew who will help support you in your empowerment and growth, you will also be provided with the most effective and efficient tools and training for optimal health, fitness, and athleticism.
Our passion, our mission, and our vision are to empower you and as many other people as possible using the tools of optimal health, fitness, and mindset by providing the best fitness experience and community in the world.
I invite you to Kvell with us,
– Brett Denton
P.S. If you ever catch me being complacent, blaming others, or complaining about anything you have my permission to smack me back into place 😉
